Looking for a tarot deck that holds powerful messages and is full of stunning artwork? Look no further than The Wildwood Tarot by Mark Ryan (Author), John Matthews (Author), Will Worthington (Illustrator).
The Wildwood Tarot deck was originally released in 2011 and has been a favourite for many readers ever since.
The Wildwood Tarot will take you on a mystical journey for answers . . .
Look to the heart of a primeval forest where deep ancestral wisdom lies to help make sense of your world today. Based on seasonal rhythms and ancient festivals, The Wildwood Tarot gift set draws inspiration from pre-Celtic mythology and shamanic mysteries. This stunning new tarot card deck introduces us to classic forest archetypes—including the Green Man and Woman, Archer, and Blasted Oak–and explains how to use them as a meditation system, divinatory oracle, or reference. Will Worthington’s powerful pagan images connect us with a long-lost world that can help us make sense of our own. So step back in time and you’ll better understand where your life’s path may lead.
The Wildwood Tarot: Wherein Wisdom Resides
I have always been a fan of the forest, of woodlands, of the deep dark woods…
When I discovered this deck, I knew it was for me. The imagery was in alignment with what I love.
Here is a video of my first impressions opening the real version of The Wildwood Tarot (see below as to why I specify real).

What kind of imagery do you like to work with?
I have many different tarot decks but I usually come back to nature-themed decks.
Fake Versions of The Wildwood Tarot
This is a tarot deck that is often found on illegitimate websites. The fake cards have been produced against the copyright of the authors and illustrations.
When I got back into tarot reading, after a decade away from the cards, I did not know that fake decks existed. The first deck I bought, was a fake version of The Wildwood Tarot. When I first received it, after waiting 6 weeks for its arrival, I was shocked.
Is this was tarot cards looked like now?
After doing some research, I realized that no, this is not what tarot cards were like – this is what FAKE tarot cards were like.
If you want to see a visual representation of the difference between a real version of this deck and a fake one, I did a video comparison which can be found here.
Words Of Guidance
I have to admit, I am not one to look at the guidebooks that come with tarot and oracle cards.
There is a stubborn aspect of myself that wants to rely on my intuition to figure it out. For the most part, this works most of the time.
Out of curiosity one day, I decided to look through the guidebook that comes with this deck. The words in the guide are beautifully written and allowed me to connect the images with a new level of knowledge and insight. There is value to expanding your knowledge. I would not have been able to provide all this new information on my own.
Because of this, I have found a new connection to this deck and it has been by go-to for the past couple of months.
Highly Recommend
If you are a person who loves nature. Someone who feels at home amongst the trees…
I would highly recommend The Wildwood Tarot.
This beautiful deck is great for new readers or experienced ones alike.
The accompanying guidebook is full of wonderful direction but the cards are, in my experience, easy to read if you have a general tarot knowledge going into it.
The artwork is so beautiful that I would display many of the cards as works of art within my home.
