Have you ever felt drained after performing a ritual or engaging in deep spiritual work? That’s because spiritual practices often require energy exchange, leaving you feeling scattered or depleted. Calling back your energy is essential to maintain balance, protect your aura, and prevent burnout.

Let’s explore practical and effective ways to reclaim your energy, ensuring you stay empowered and whole after your spiritual practices.

Why Calling Back Your Energy is Important

When you engage in spiritual work, you naturally extend your energy outward. Whether it’s spellcasting, meditation, prayer, energy healing, or ritual practices, it happens.

While this can be empowering, it can also leave you feeling energetically scattered.

You want to be able to retain as much of your energy as you can. Being spiritually depleted can lead to all sorts of dis-ease within the body. Feelings of exhaustion, negativity, and more can compromise your spiritual (and mental) health.

Key Reasons to Call Back Your Energy:

  • Prevent Energy Drain: Avoid exhaustion and burnout from spiritual overexertion.
  • Stay Grounded: Maintain stability and connection with your physical self.
  • Protect Your Aura: Reduce energy leaks that leave you vulnerable to negativity.
  • Enhance Manifestation: Ensure your power remains within you for optimal results.
  • Strengthen Boundaries: Stop giving away energy unintentionally to people or places.

Signs That Your Energy is Scattered

It’s important to recognize when your energy has become fragmented. Some common indicators include:

  • Feeling tired or emotionally drained after rituals (or in daily life).
  • Increased sensitivity to external energies or environments.
  • Struggling to focus or concentrate.
  • Feeling disconnected or “out of body”.
  • Experiencing unexplained anxiety, mood swings, or irritability.
  • Trouble sleeping or having intense, unsettling dreams.

If you experience any of these symptoms, it’s time to call back your energy and restore your balance.

Techniques to Call Back Your Energy After Rituals

Visualization and Meditation

One of the most powerful ways to reclaim your energy is through focused visualization and meditation.

  • Sit quietly in a peaceful space and take deep breaths.
  • Visualize a golden light surrounding you, pulling back all scattered energy.
  • Imagine your energy returning to your body like threads weaving back into place.
  • Affirm: “I call back all of my energy, restored, whole, and empowered.”

Affirmations and Intentions

Setting a clear intention to reclaim your energy is incredibly effective. Repeat affirmations like:

  • “I call back all my energy from every person, place, or situation.”
  • “My energy is fully my own. I am grounded, balanced, and whole.”
  • “I release all energy that does not serve me and reclaim my power.”
  • “I return energy that is not mine and receive my energy, recharged and revitalized”

You can also set intentions before beginning spiritual work for all your energy to return to you upon completion of your ritual or practice.  I do this when working on shadow work, which I tend to do by journaling.  I set the intention that when I close the journal, all my energy returns to me feeling revitalized and refreshed.

Physical Grounding Methods

Reconnecting with the physical body helps anchor your energy. Try:

  • Walking barefoot on grass, soil, or sand (Earthing).
  • Holding grounding crystals like black tourmaline, hematite, or smoky quartz.
  • Eating grounding foods such as root vegetables, nuts, and protein-rich meals.

Grounding in the spring can be a very powerful exercise to implement because, if you live in a cold climate, you may not have been able to be barefoot on the earth for many moon cycles. It is a great way to restore and rebalance your energy.

Smoke Cleansing and Energy Cleansing

Clearing lingering energy from your aura and space is vital. You can use:

  • Sage, palo santo, or incense to cleanse your energy field.
  • Sound healing with singing bowls, bells, or clapping to break up stagnant energy.
  • A salt bath infused with rosemary, lavender, or essential oils for deep purification.

Combine smoke cleansings with affirmations and intention setting to have a truly powerful reclaiming of your energy.

Cord-Cutting and Energy Reclaiming Rituals

Sometimes, we unknowingly leave energy tied to people or situations. Perform a simple ritual:

  • Light a white or black candle and focus on reclaiming your energy.
  • Visualize cutting any energetic cords still attached to others.
  • Write down any draining connections and burn the paper as a release.

This is a very important reclaiming ritual for when you are involved in uneasy or overwhelming social situations.  You may not be doing a ritual, but just being in their presence feels like it zaps you of energy.  Learning to shield so that this does not happen is important but until then, call your energy back when you get to a safe place and feel able to do so.

Another important aspect of cord-cutting is to release any energy you may be holding onto that belongs to someone else. Release that energy and send it back to its owner. This can help re-balance your energy and you will not be holding onto stagnant energy that might be holding you back.

Creating an Energy Protection Practice

To prevent energy depletion in the future, it’s essential to maintain a strong energetic foundation. Here are some ways to protect yourself:

  • Shielding: Imagine a protective bubble of light around you before and after spiritual work.
  • Daily Energy Check-ins: Ask yourself, “Where is my energy?” and call it back if needed.
  • Spiritual Hygiene: Regularly cleanse your aura and personal space.
  • Boundaries: Avoid overextending your energy to others, especially in draining environments.

One way to shield that I love to teach others, is to “zip up”. Many of us are familiar with the motion of zipping up a sweater or a jacket. As you perform that motion, visualize yourself zipping up your energetic shield to keep your energy within and to protect you from the spiritual onslaught of the outside world.

When to Seek Spiritual Support

If you continue feeling energetically imbalanced despite these practices, you may need additional support. Consider:

  • Working with a Reiki practitioner or energy healer.
  • Consulting a spiritual mentor or guide.
  • Using advanced modality healing like sound therapy or acupuncture.

Calling back your energy after ritual or spiritual work is a vital practice for maintaining balance and well-being. By using grounding techniques, visualization, affirmations, and protective measures, you can ensure your energy remains whole and vibrant. Make energy retrieval a regular part of your spiritual routine to stay empowered and aligned.
